This place is just the worst. I wish I checked the reviews before going as it sounds like others have had similar experiences.
Had a small house fire in June of 2013 in which we needed our curtains cleaned from smoke damage. When we got the curtain valances back they were in tatters! The woman at the office tried blaming the destruction they caused on the age of the curtains (which were just over a year old). She then told us that this is the risk you take when you have your curtains cleaned! It is now September of 2013 and they refuse to respond back from phone calls from our insurance company or myself. The cleaning of the curtains cost well over $200. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.
When my husband went to pick up the pillow, he received a completely different pillow. They told him they took the feathers out and cleaned them and put them in a new ticking. They threw away the zippered cover (why?). When my husband started asking questions they told me they had informed me of this when I dropped it off. They didn’t, I was in there for about 45 seconds, remember the scrap paper? That kid had no idea what he was doing. On top of everything they called us liars. Seriously, what in the world Maurers?! We weren’t asking for a new pillow, you could have at least apologized for not explaining your process when I dropped the pillow off. But they immediately went on the offensive.
I would recommend this drycleaner. I had a large order of many different items, skirts, dresses, prom dresses that was over 15 items. There was one item I wanted to get back to return the dress I had borrowed to a friend. I ended up calling near 6pm, which I thought was closing time, and the person on the phone could not have been nicer. They were friendly and nice and said no problem that their closing time was 7:00pm. I was surprised I thought most businesses close at 6pm. When I arrived my order was pulled to the front and ready to go – I was in and out quickly and everything came out wonderful. I appreciate the friendly excellent service and will use Maurer’s again.
I took a $120 pillow there to be cleaned. The young man took my name and phone number down on a torn scrap piece of paper. I thought it was weird I didn’t get a receipt but whatever. I asked if they would call me when it was ready and he responded “I guess we can do that”. I never received a call.
Obviously I’m never going back but I hope you won’t either.
Hired this company to clean my clothes, bedding, towels etc after a house fire, because they were a local company. Upon getting my items back I noticed several items missing. They did not take an inventory when collecting my items, even though most items were tagged with numbered tags. I have lots of North Face and Under Armour items, and they are not cheap. The woman manager, Anne, who I later found out owned the business, was the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. I filed a complaint with BBB, and they never even responded to the claim. I would highly recommend not using them for anything. The facility looks like a sweatshop from the 1920's. Dirty, stinky, and unorganized. This was my experience, and it was not good, at all.
I had my wool coat dry cleaned here, and when I picked it up, the stench of chemicals (and maybe something else) was overpowering. My husband's shirt also smelled and was stiff with again, I'm not 100% sure what. I will NOT be returning.
